Hawkvids

I've never seen Hawkwind (or related artists) live and have never seen any videos/DVDs. I've always read what an experience the live performances can be and occasionally see videos (legal or otherwise) available. However, considering that they are one of the most irresponsibly packaged bands in history, I'm wary as to forking over cash for any. Can anyone recommend any of the videos that float around in the ether? Or at least give honest opinions on the ones they've seen? Please tell me what you know of any of the offshoots too.

Hi Folly and all. I have been lucky enough to have seen Hawkwind (and as the Hawklords) on many occasions. First in 1976 then yearly till approx 1990. I became disenchanted around the time of the Angels of Death album - too metal and not 'spacey' enough for me. The only video I ever saw and bought unfortunately I cannot remember the name of, but at the time Nik Turner was fronting the band and was basically hamming it for all he was worth. The sound and video production was woeful and the all over effect was of no Hawkwind gig that ever I saw. I foolishly invited mates to join me in the first viewing and after having gone on about what an excellent live band the Hawks were I was highly embarrassed! The front photo was of Nik on stage in a thing like a 1970s catsuit or leotard. Be warned! By the way my enthusiasm for the band has rekindled of late hence my finding this most enjoyable site. I now deeply regret selling 36 Hawkwind albums incl. some rare imports! Idiot! All the Best, Beenzon Toste.
