My collection is far from complete, but so far my favorite albums are Palace Springs and Space Ritual. Palace Springs really cliqed with me and allowed me to initial access to hawkspace; both the presence of Simon House's violin and Bridgett Wishart's vocals make this an interesting one.
Space Ritual is a classic monster. Lemmy's bass blows me away--he's like the nuclear propulsion force that drove that band to such frenzied heights. Plus the original multi-paneled album cover is great.
All in all, I enjoy each period of the band.
Tell us about your faves.

Fri, October 31, 2003 - 9:42 AMSpace Ritual is great, but that's extremely interesting that you have a boot that your dad made way back when. Very cool.

Wed, May 19, 2004 - 10:27 PMAs a Hawkwind fan from WAY back (your Dad's era probably), I'd have to say Space Ritual has got to be tops. Saw it performed in ~1974 in St. Louis. Lots of other great stuff though... Hall of the Mountain Grill, Quark Strangeness and Charm, and PXR5 are all (inter)stellar albums. And check out Calvert's Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters - it's a hoot (and he was something else). You might find the Hawkwind Blanga Guide at doremi.co.uk/hawks/ interesting.

Re: Fave albums
Sun, June 13, 2004 - 3:49 AMfirst Hawkwind album i bought was Sonic Attack, back in the days when i was listening to Iron Maiden regularly. My favorite has to be Hawklords 25 years on . Bob Calvert is on there and its multiple layers of symbolism hit all the right buttons with me.Quark Strangeness and Chrm being a close second.

Mon, June 14, 2004 - 5:56 AMI'm still sifting through the Hawkwind canon, but from the records I've heard, 'Hall of the Mountain Grill' is superb, everything people say about the original 'Space Ritual'(on EMI) is true, and 'Xenon Codex' is very underrated. I think 'Ritual' is one of the greatest live rock records ever made. It's in the same league as 'Live at Leeds' or 'Kick out the Jams' if you ask me.
